What is the UCAT?
The UCAT is a 2-hour test consisting of five sections: Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning, Abstract Reasoning, and Situational Judgement. Each section tests different skills relevant to medical practice. Familiarising yourself with the format of each section will help you approach the test with confidence. The UCAT is scored on a scale from 300 to 900 for each of the four main sections, with a total score reflecting your performance across all. The Situational Judgement section is scored differently, providing a band score (Band 1 being the best and Band 4 the worst).
When do I start preparing?
Registration typically opens several months before the exam window, which is held annually in the summer. Ensure you meet the eligibility requirements and register early to secure your spot.
A well-structured preparation timeline can enhance your study efficiency. Begin your preparation at least two months before the test date, allowing ample time for review and practice. Spend some time making a thorough plan, increasing the amount of revision you do closer to the exam date.
